Appalachian State University’s Reich College of Education invites applications for a full time Director of the Mathematics and Science Education Center, beginning February 3, 2020.  Appalachian State University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer, and strongly encourages applications from underrepresented groups. 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

The Director of the Mathematics and Science Education Center provides direction and leadership for the Mathematics and Science Education Center; plans, manages, and implements STEM education programs and professional development programs for K-12 math/science teachers; secures grant funding to support the work of math and science/STEM education; and builds collaborative partnerships across the university, school district, and other educational organizations.

 

Qualifications

 

The minimum qualifications include:

 

  • a Doctorate in a field represented in one of the STEM or STEM Education areas.
  • Experience and success in grant writing and building collaborative partnerships.
  • Experience in the teaching of one of the STEM areas (K-16 level).
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be eligible for rank at the Associate or Full Professor level.
  • Must meet requirements and be eligible for tenure at Appalachian State University.
