The Department of Algebra, Charles University, Prague, Czechia, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in any branch of algebra, mathematical logic or number theory, including all kinds of computational aspects of the disciplines. We are looking for candidates that would complement or strengthen existing research areas in our department. Candidates are expected to have completed PhD in any relevant field, and have a proven international research record in pure or applied mathematics. Command of Czech language is not necessary.

This is a non-tenure track, the contract duration is two years. The salary range is 45000-55000 CZK (currently about 1750-2150 EUR), depending on the experience of the candidate. The position carries a small teaching load (up to 4 hours per semester). The starting date is negotiable between June 1 and October 1, 2020.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University is a leading institution in mathematics in Czechia, with highly motivated and well educated students in our mathematics programs. The School of Mathematics has about 110 academic positions, covering most of the major areas of mathematics. The Department of Algebra offers an open minded international environment, with outstanding conditions for independent research. We currently have about 15 permanent and 10 postdoctoral positions, with over a quarter of these positions held by international staff. The department hosts a project funded by the European Research Council (Libor Barto, Symmetry in Computational Complexity).
