DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS STANFORD UNIVERSITY Stanford University invites applications for a tenured position made possible in part by a gift from the Simons Foundation under the Math+X program, whose goal is to increase the interaction between mathematics and other disciplines in science and engineering. We are seeking exceptional applicants who will develop a program of research and innovative new courses at the frontier of areas such as computational mathematics/statistics, imaging science, optimization or any other applicable field. This is a broad-area search. We will place higher priority on the impact, originality, and promise of the candidate's work than on the particular sub-area of specialization. Evidence of the ability to pursue a program of innovative research and a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching are required. The successful candidate will teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and build and lead a team of graduate students in PhD research. Applicants will be considered for a joint appointment between either the Department of Mathematics or the Department of Statistics and another department of science or engineering, or the Institute for Computational and Mathematical Engineering in the School of Engineering. Applicants should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae,
list of publications, and a brief statement of research and teaching interests (no more than 3 pages). Also,
the candidate should arrange to provide the names and contact information for
three potential referees. Please apply and submit these materials through mathjobs.org; please check âMath+Xâ as a
job title. For additional information you may email jobs@math.stanford.edu with Math+X in the subject. Full
consideration will be given to applications received before April 1, 2020.
Applications received after this date will be accepted until the position is
filled. Stanford is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Stanford welcomes applications from all who would bring additional dimensions to the Universityâs research, teaching and clinical missions. PLEASE APPLY THROUGH MATHJOBS.ORG. |
