Macalester College invites applications for a one-year visiting position in Mathematics to begin fall 2021. Candidates should have completed a PhD in Mathematics or a related field by the time of appointment and will teach courses across the undergraduate mathematics curriculum, including an advanced course in mathematical modeling or, more broadly, in applied mathematics. There is a possibility that the position will be renewed for a second year. Our department offers majors in mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics, and computer science, graduating more than 100 students per year across these three majors. The multidisciplinary environment provides a rich and collegial setting for student education and faculty research. Our faculty value pedagogical and curricular innovation, undergraduate research mentoring, and working with diverse student populations. Strong candidates will have a record of experience or demonstrated interest in these efforts. Faculty teach five courses per year, two in one semester and three in the other. We support visiting faculty by providing course materials and mentoring.
