The Mathematics Department of Loyola Marymount University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2022.  Responsibilities include teaching, advising, maintaining an active program of scholarship, and engaging in university service.  Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. or comparable terminal degree in statistics, operations research, mathematics, or a related field by August 15, 2022.

 

The Mathematics Department, housed within Loyola Marymount University’s College of Science and Engineering, is an inclusive community of 19 full-time faculty members and approximately 60 mathematics majors, 40 minors, and 15 Master of Arts in Teaching students. The department offers several Bachelor’s degree options and minors, including both a Bachelor of Science and a minor in Statistics and Data Science.

 

Faculty in the department work in many areas of pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and data science, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and collaboration. Faculty responsibilities include teaching, advising, maintaining an active program of scholarship, and engaging in university service. The normal teaching load is 9 units per semester, with a reduced teaching load in the first two years.
