The Department of Statistics, at the Pennsylvania State University, invites applications at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor and Teaching Professor depending on candidates’ qualifications. Applicants must have a master’s or terminal degree (Ph.D.) in statistics, data science, or a closely related field by appointment start date; at a minimum a master’s degree is required. The courses for which this position would be responsible may range in level from introductory undergraduate to upper-level undergraduate statistics and data science courses. There is also the possibility that the qualified candidate would be expected to teach graduate-level statistics and data science service courses for non-statistics students. Examples of courses the faculty member may be expected to teach include a capstone course for statistics majors and a course on introductory data science and computing. If desired, the opportunity to occasionally teach in an online setting or to help design/redesign courses that benefit our majors is also a possibility.

It is expected that the successful applicant is committed to quality undergraduate teaching (additional details in support of this can be included in the statement of teaching).
