Visiting Assistant Professor

INTRODUCTION

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Connecticut invites applications for positions at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2022.

Preference will be given to candidates whose experience is in applied and computational mathematics. Additional information about the Department may be found at http://www.math.uconn.edu.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Ph.D. or equivalent foreign degree in mathematics (granted by August 2022), a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching, the ability to contribute through teaching and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with educational technologies, such as online homework systems, message boards, videos, smart boards, interactive technological teaching tools, or classroom personal response systems (“clickers”); experience teaching large lectures. Research experience in applied/computational mathematics for one of the positions.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

These are full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track positions at the Storrs campus for an initial duration of one year, renewable annually for up to two additional years (three years total). The successful candidate’s academic appointment will be at the Storrs campus. Faculty may also be asked to teach at one of UConn’s regional campuses as part of their ordinary workload. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The teaching load for these positions is 7 courses a year, approximately 21 credits annually. This load can be reduced through activities such as teaching large classes or coordinating multiple sections of a course.
