The Department of Mathematics at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mathematics and Computational Data Science. The Computational Data Science and Mathematics Programs are situated in the Mathematics Department with faculty who engage in research and support students with different interests and diverse backgrounds.

The College of Liberal Arts, together with Hamline’s School of Business, serves approximately 1,700 undergraduate students. The University’s mission is to create a diverse and collaborative community of learners dedicated to the development of students’ knowledge, values, and skills for successful lives of leadership, scholarship, and service. Hamline University is located in the heart of the culturally vibrant Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area. The hired faculty member will have access to all facilities that Hamline and the Twin Cities area offers.

A successful candidate will have expertise in statistics, mathematical data analysis, or applied mathematics, and a strong interest in computer applications or big data. Demonstrate a strong commitment to broad liberal arts and interdisciplinary education, excellent teaching skills, experience supporting diverse students, and the ability to develop a high-impact productive research program involving undergraduate researchers. A PhD in mathematics, statistics, or data science is required.

Candidates should be able to teach introductory and advanced courses in statistics, introductory courses in mathematics and data science, including computer programming, and innovative and interdisciplinary offerings in their area of interest. Collaboration with programs outside of Computational Data Science and Mathematics is strongly encouraged.

Hamline tenure-track faculty typically teach six courses per academic year, with a course release in the first year for professional development and a semester pre-tenure release pending successful third-year review.
