Organizational Unit Overview The Department of Mathematics (www.ecu.edu/cs-cas/math) is one of the sixteen departments of the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences at East Carolina University and offers the BA, BS, and MA degrees in mathematics. Faculty in the department hold doctoral degrees from top universities and engage in research and publication. East Carolina University (www.ecu.edu) is a member of the 17-campus University of North Carolina System and is classified as a Doctoral/Research-Intensive University and enrolls 29,000 students with over 5,500 pursuing graduate and professional degrees. Job Duties East Carolina University, Greenville, NC, invites applications for three anticipated full-time teaching instructor or teaching assistant professor positions in the Department of Mathematics, contingent upon funding, beginning August 16, 2022. Duties include teaching mathematics and/or statistics courses at the undergraduate level. A typical teaching load is to teach 4 courses (12 credit hours) per semester. Service to the university, community, and profession is expected. This non-tenure-track position is for the Fall and Spring semesters of 2022-2023 academic year only, with the possibility of subsequent appointments. Contingent upon available funding. Minimum Education/Experience A Master’s degree or higher and 18 graduate-level credit hours in Mathematics and/or Statistics is required for appointment as teaching instructor. In addition to the requirements for teaching instructor, a terminal degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or closely related field appropriate to the area of instruction is required for consideration for appointment as teaching assistant professor. Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education Prefer college teaching experience. We desire the successful candidate to have a demonstrated record of effective teaching of mathematics.
