The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Saint Mary’s College is accepting applications for a three-year visiting position to begin in August 2023. A master’s in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related field is required, but a Ph.D. is preferred. Though the area of specialization is flexible, the ideal candidate will be a broadly trained mathematician, statistician, or computer scientist with the ability to teach a wide range of mathematics courses at the undergraduate level such as calculus and linear algebra. The ability or interest to teach at the graduate level in our Master of Science in Data Science program is an additional advantage to an applicant for this position. Duties beyond teaching include individual interaction with students, directing senior comprehensive projects, and service to the department. While research/scholarly activity is not expected, the position is structured to allow for research to continue. Opportunities exist for teaching and research collaborations across campus as well as in the community.

Founded in 1844 by the Sisters of the Holy Cross, Saint Mary’s College is an all-women’s undergraduate institution with graduate programs for both men and women. The College has a commitment to excellence in STEM education for women and seeks to prepare women, particularly those from underrepresented groups, to be leaders in the wider STEM community.

Applications must be submitted by January 15, 2023, to guarantee full consideration; however, applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled. A complete application includes: curriculum vitae; your philosophy of teaching; a statement of your understanding of the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in academia including evidence of your current contributions and plans for advancing the work at Saint Mary’s College; all post-secondary transcripts; evidence of effective teaching (such as teaching evaluations, classroom activities, and/or pedagogical approaches); three letters of reference, at least two addressing teaching.

Applications should be submitted electronically (in .pdf format) to the email address below. Letters of reference should be sent directly from the recommender.

Application materials should be sent to:
