Position Description

Description: SLMath (formerly MSRI) will appoint Research Professors in its program New Frontiers in Curvature: Flows, General Relativity, Minimal Submanifolds, and Symmetry, which will be held August 19 - December 20, 2024.

Research professorships are intended for senior researchers who will be making key contributions to the program, including the mentoring of postdoctoral fellows, and who will be in residence for three or more months.

Research professors may receive up to $5,700 per month for reimbursement of local expenses during their visit to SLMath.

Deadline: Complete applications, including one letter of recommendation, must be submitted by October 1, 2023.

Note about Letter of Recommendation: SLMath is funded by the National Science Foundation and, as such, must have a transparent selection process. Having a complete dossier for each applicant allows for this. The letter of recommendation need not be elaborate, a succinct paragraph explaining why your participation in the program is desirable is all that is requested. Only one letter is required for Research Professor applications.

Eligibility: For mathematical scientists who are at the tenured associate professor or subsequent stages of their careers, and have received their PhD before the year 2014.
