Position Description

The Research Fellow in Computational Bayesian Statistics is expected to undertake the development of hierarchical models for geospatial antimalarial drug resistance, implementation of Bayesian inference methods, and mechanistic mathematical modelling of drug resistance spread. They will be required to be skilled across several different areas including Bayesian inference, mathematical modelling and high-performance scientific computing. The successful incumbent will contribute to a larger program of malaria modelling research at the University of Melbourne.

This role is funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) Ideas Grant of Professor Jennifer Flegg, Professor Nick Golding and Associate Professor Dan Weiss. The appointee will be a member of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, reporting to Professor Jennifer Flegg.

This is a full-time fixed-term position for 3 years.
