|IMA INDUSTRIAL POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS are designed to prepare mathematicians for research careers in industry or involving industrial interaction. IMA industrial postdoctoral fellowships run two years starting August 31, 2011. They are funded jointly by the IMA and an industrial sponsor, and holders devote 50% effort working with industrial scientists and 50% effort on a combination of their own research and the IMA activities. Industrial postdoctoral fellows receive a salary of $55,000 annually, and a travel allowance. Documentation of completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree in mathematics or a related area is required by the start of the appointment.
If in addition to this Industrial Postdoctoral Fellowship, you wish to be considered for a (regular) IMA Postdoctoral Fellowship (also two years in length, but not necessarily involving research at an industrial partner) please note that you need to apply for that (regular) IMA Postdoctoral Fellowship separately through MathJobs.
The research statement you submit is an important part of the application and it is very possible that the research statement you use for other postdoctoral applications will need to be augmented for this application. Your statement should not only outline your research interests and goals, but should also state why the IMA Industrial Postdoc position would be an effective place for you to pursue these interests and goals.
