Position Description
The Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Washington announces the availability of two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to start in September 2025. Candidates with expertise in one or more areas of applied mathematics are encouraged to apply. The department is seeking candidates that complement the current research strengths of the department (in no particular order) in data science, scientific computing and numerical analysis, nonlinear waves and coherent structures, mathematical biology, atmospheric science and climate modeling, applied analysis, stochastic modeling, mathematical finance, and optimization, or bring in new areas of expertise. The department is also seeking candidates who will continue its long tradition of interdisciplinary collaboration. See http://depts.washington.edu/amath/ for more details. These positions hold a 9 month service term (September 16 through June 15 each year) and are full-time (100% FTE).
Washington State Law requires that this ad list a binding salary range. The base salary range for this position is $11,000 - $15,000 per month on a 9-month basis ($99,000-$135,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
