Position Description

The research group “Groups, Geometry and Dynamics” at KIT, Karlsruhe, Germany, invites applications for Postdoctoral Scholars. The research group works at the interface of aperiodic order, geometric and ergodic group theory, bounded cohomology, and harmonic analysis on Lie group. We will consider both candidates which already work in one of these fields and candidates working in related fields (including but not limited to point process theory, automorphic forms, measurable groupoids, operator algebras, dynamical systems) which are willing to broaden their mathematical horizon. A strong research record is the main criterion for se-lection. The willingness to cooperate outside of the own field of expertise is expected in both cases.

The position comes with a weekly teaching load of 2x90 minutes, which can be fulfilled in either English or German. It starts October 1st, 2025 and the hiring is initially for a period of two years with a possible prolongation depending on success in applying for third party funding. The salary is according to E13 level (ca. 50,000-60,000 Euro/year depending on seniority).

The following materials (and only the following materials) should be submitted by email to zuzana.farago@kit.edu:

(1) Curriculum Vitae, listing teaching experience and including a full publication list;

(2) 2 recommendation letters (to be submitted directly by the referees);

(3) Research statement, also indicating possible areas of collaboration.

Informal inquiries about the position may be directed to Prof. Tobias Hartnick (tobias.hartnick@kit.edu)
