|The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Maine invites applications for one or more tenure-track academic-year appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor in pure mathematics, effective September 1, 2013. Exceptionally well-qualified candidates in all areas of pure mathematics are invited to apply. We are particularly interested in building upon the existing pure math strengths in the department.
A Ph.D. in Mathematics is required by date of hire. Demonstrated effective teaching and strong potential for obtaining external research funding are required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are also required. Responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate teaching, student advising, directing undergraduate projects and graduate theses, and maintaining an active research program. The teaching load for this position is two courses per semester.
