The Department of Mathematics & Statistics seeks to fill two tenure-track positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, dependent on qualifications, to begin August 1, 2013.
A Ph.D. in mathematics or a Ph.D. in statistics completed by August 1, 2013, evidence of successful teaching experience, the capability to maintain a program of professional activity that includes research and publication, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student body are required. Classroom experience using technology such as graphing calculators, Maple, or Minitab, is preferred. Awards for outstanding teaching are desired.
Responsibilities include teaching 12 hours each semester, university service, academic advising of students, professional development, curriculum development, and maintaining a program of professional activity that includes research and publication.
The University of Tennessee at Martin is a primary campus in the University of Tennessee System. The campus is located in Northwest Tennessee approximately 125 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville. The Department of Mathematics & Statistics has 20 faculty positions. A major is offered in mathematics with concentrations in mathematics, statistics, and secondary mathematics. Minors are offered in mathematics and statistics. The department operates a mathematics laboratory that provides instruction in several self-paced courses and tutoring in all freshman and sophomore level courses.
