Cornell College, a private undergraduate liberal arts college, invites applications for a tenure track position in Mathematics and Statistics. The college seeks an individual committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching of mathematics and statistics, with a passion for applied problems. Experience working with a research team, and experience with mathematical biology, bioinformatics, scientific computation, or problems involving big data preferred, but will consider any applicants with a strong background in applied mathematics and desire to collaborate with students and faculty from other disciplines on problems of mutual interest. Applicants must be qualified to teach most undergraduate mathematics courses with an emphasis on major-level modeling sequence, differential equations, calculus, and non-calculus based statistics, as well as interest in engaging students in activities like competitions and internships. A Ph.D. or ABD in mathematics or mathematical sciences and demonstrated excellence in teaching are required. Cornell College has attracted national attention for its distinctive academic calendar under which faculty teach and students take one course at a time in month-long terms. This provides faculty with an excellent opportunity to implement exciting pedagogical strategies. Appointment at the assistant professor rank to begin in late August 2014.
