Postdoctoral Position in Probabilistic Methods in Sparse Approximation

We invite applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Mathematics at Simon Fraser University. The candidate will collaborate with Professors Ben Adcock and Paul Tupper at SFU and Professor Yaniv Plan at the University of British Columbia.

The broad topic of this position is methods for sparse approximation, with applications in compressed sensing and related areas. The candidate will pursue fundamental research in both the design of random measurement strategies and the probabilistic analysis of sparse regularization techniques. Applications range from parallel imaging systems to stochastic collocation techniques for uncertainty quantification.

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in probability theory and numerical analysis. Applicants from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. The salary will be at a competitive level and include funding for travel. Fellows will need to teach one undergraduate course per year.

Applications should be submitted through Applications must consist of a CV, a research statement, and three reference letters with one addressing the candidate's teaching experience. The application deadline is December 5th. Applications received after this date cannot be guaranteed to be given full consideration.

Please contact Ben Adcock for more information.
