The Department of Mathematics of the University at Buffalo anticipates the appointment of a tenure-track assistant professor, effective August 2017. Salary will be competitive. The Department seeks an individual with expertise in abstract algebra, especially individuals who can complement existing department strengths in representation theory and low-dimensional topology. Individuals with outstanding qualifications in other areas of concentration in the Department may be considered as well.

Applicants should have excellent research accomplishments and potential, a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences and a strong commitment to teaching. Postdoctoral experience is expected, although not absolutely required. The usual teaching load for research active faculty is 3 semester courses per academic year.
