The Science and Mathematics faculty in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Polytechnic Campus at Arizona State University invites applications for an Applied Mathematics Instructor position beginning in spring 2017. The successful candidate will teach mathematics courses at the ASU Polytechnic campus; work alongside mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics faculty in Science and Mathematics in order to provide students in those disciplines with a solid set of mathematics, computational, and statistical skills appropriate to their chosen profession.  The course load for this position is five classes per semester; course load is determined by the faculty head. This is not a tenure-track position.

This Instructor position is a fixed-term, benefits-eligible, academic-year appointment with no tenure implications. Renewal is contingent upon availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and the needs of the university. Salary is competitive and dependent upon qualifications, experience and rank. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Applied Mathematics or closely related field

  • Two years’ experience teaching undergraduate level applied mathematics courses or equivalent courses 

  • Evidence of excellent teaching ability

Desired Qualifications:

  • A PhD degree from an accredited institution in Applied Mathematics or closely related field

  • Ability to teach mathematics courses from college algebra to calculus 3, and/or introductory statistics

  • Experience working with large data sets and/or technology to teach mathematics courses

  • Experience in course management systems such as Blackboard and online homework systems

  • Experience working in a collaborative environments within and across disciplines

  • Demonstrated service to the profession
