Position Description: The Department of Mathematics seeks applications for a Senior Preceptor in Mathematics. The responsibilities of this senior non-ladder position include teaching three courses each year; hiring, training, and mentoring new and continuing Preceptors; training and mentoring graduate student teachers; overseeing the hiring, training, and supervision of undergraduate course assistants; advising undergraduate students; and developing curriculum and pedagogical materials. Preceptors teach courses whose audience are predominately non-majors. Generally each semester the senior preceptor will coordinate a multi-sectioned course.

The Department of Mathematics is currently piloting an Emerging Scholars Program which will include an eight-week program abroad each summer. The department is seeking a candidate for the Senior Preceptor position who will be available to coordinate the summer program on site, during summer 2018 and other summers as needed.

The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2017. The position is for five years and renewable contingent upon performance, enrollments, and curricular need.

Basic Qualifications: Doctorate in mathematics required by the time the appointment begins. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in teaching mathematics at a college level.

Additional Qualifications: A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent judgment, effective leadership, strong team-building skills, pedagogical expertise (including curriculum design), and will have experience supervising a team of teachers.
