Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a five-year academic position to outstanding candidates interested in performing research in collaboration with Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) and Thales group in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with Thales and Sorbonne University in Paris. This position is open in the context of a Chair of Excellence between Thales and Sorbonne University. The applicant has to show an experience of applied research projects in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cognition, Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. The research partnership between Thales and SCAI is related to the general field of Hybrid Artificial Intelligence (smart combination of stochastic and symbolic approaches with applications in collaborative radar design tools). The Knowledge of digital twins and sensor systems (in particular radars) would be an added value. The priorities of the appointment are the excellence of the applicant’s research record and their ability to conduct a world-class collaboration with Thales, within the new Sorbonne Center for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI). The successful candidate will conduct high quality research. She/he will supervise two PhD students, in close connection, and in collaboration, with the academic holder of the chair of excellence at Sorbonne University (Paris, France). Candidates holding a faculty position will be considered with a higher priority. The applicants are expected to have a strong background in Mathematics/Statistics and Machine Learning, with a proven record of international peer-reviewed publications, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. An especial attention will be awarded to the candidates with experience in mentoring PhD students, with a record in teaching at graduate level, and a verifiable potential for effective ability to advise Ph.D students. The recruited scholar is also expected to collaborate with resident faculty members of the Department of Sciences and Engineering, in promoting the department’s activities on the local, regional and international levels and in participating to the University life.
