The Center for Communications Research, La Jolla, is looking for individuals in mathematics, statistics, computer science, and related fields to join our exciting research effort. Although we are part of a non-profit corporation, the Institute for Defense Analyses, our working environment feels like a mathematics department at a leading research university, albeit without any students, free of administrative burdens, and with a greater emphasis on collaborative research. We work on a wide variety of difficult challenges in mathematics and statistics whose solutions are of interest to the National Security Agency. Individuals who thrive here enjoy solving difficult problems and proving theorems using a wide variety of tools. Consequently, rather than recruiting specific specialties, we are looking for smart PhDs who are willing and able to learn whatever it takes to solve our ever-evolving research problems. Some problems require very deep and sophisticated mathematics, others the latest computational technologies, and many require both.

We are located in San Diego, California, which boasts one of the best climates in the US and an array of opportunities for outdoor recreation.

US citizenship is required. Employment is contingent on obtaining an appropriate security clearance (which we will sponsor). The start date for this position is flexible, but we anticipate that a typical applicant will want to begin work in fall 2021.

Interested individuals should apply via this website. Please submit an AMS cover sheet; a cover letter; CV; a discussion of your research; and three letters of recommendation (preferred) or names and contact information of three people who can speak knowledgeably about your research contributions. Applications received by October 15, 2020, will receive full consideration.
