The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Swarthmore College invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Mathematics, to begin Fall 2021. Qualifications include a Ph.D. in mathematics, a proven research record, and excellence in undergraduate teaching with a demonstrated ability to teach a broad range of introductory and advanced courses in mathematics to undergraduates from diverse backgrounds. The teaching load is four courses a year, normally divided equally between the two semesters.

Our department offers a vibrant undergraduate program with a major in mathematics, which can include an emphasis in applied mathematics or in statistics. This multidisciplinary environment is a rich and collegial setting for student education and faculty research. The Swarthmore undergraduate student body has 44% U.S. minority enrollment and 11% international enrollment. Reflecting the institution’s values, our department is diverse and inclusive, with two-thirds of our tenure-line faculty being women, people of color, and/or members of the LGBTQ+ community.
