The Department of Mathematical Sciences of Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) invites applications for a tenure-track position at assistant or associate professor level, starting in Fall 2021 subject to budget approval. The department seeks to hire candidates with expertise in applied mathematics, statistics, and stochastic analysis in support of the departmental research activities and educational offerings.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field of mathematics or statistics by August 1, 2020, and show evidence of or potential for developing an active research program, publishing in premier journals, and obtaining external funding. Ability and desire to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment is expected. The candidates should also possess a passion for and be committed to excellence in both graduate and undergraduate education in a highly innovative and entrepreneurial culture at Stevens.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences is an internationally recognized center of excellence for research and education in contemporary mathematical sciences with an undergraduate program in mathematics, a Ph.D. program in pure and applied mathematics, and master degree programs in mathematics, applied mathematics, and in actuarial mathematics and quantitative risk. Additionally, the department is hosting a cross-disciplinary program in data science offered in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as the School of Business. The Institute offers excellent computational facilities and opportunities for interdisciplinary research with well-established programs in engineering and science, computer science, quantitative finance and business.
