TWO 3-YEAR PHD POSITIONS IN COMPUTATIONAL SOCIAL SCIENCE

WE SEARCH FOR

Excellent young scientists with a master’s degree or equivalent in statistics, physics, mathematics, computer science, computational social science, or related fields. In the course of your studies, you should have experience in large-scale data analysis, data-driven simulation & modelling techniques, empirical network analysis, or related fields in machine learning and computational science. The candidate must have a critical, open-minded and collaborative spirit.

YOUR PROFILE

You should have some research experience at a Master thesis level, or equivalent. You must be proficient in English both written and spoken. We expect you to have the ability to independently carry out data-intensive research as exemplified by your past works that showcase your strong programming, modelling and mathematical skills.

WE OFFER

A fully funded 3-year PhD position in an internationally renowned research group located in Vienna, Austria. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in the field of Computational Social Science and Network Science with a focus on exploring social inequality and emergence of biases in society and algorithms. You will work in a newly established group led by Fariba Karimi at the Complexity Science Hub Vienna in close collaboration with other researchers at the Hub and the Department of Network and Data Science at the Central European University.
