The Tri-Campus Graduate Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto invites applications for Postdoctoral positions. These positions are for mathematicians with fresh or recent PhDs and combine research with teaching. Candidates should show significant promise in research and demonstrate evidence of strength in teaching.

Applicants should submit their materials on MathJobs and directly contact faculty members with whom they are interested in working. To receive full consideration, applications should be received by December 15, 2020 though we will consider late applications. Regarding the four reference letters, one of them should address the candidate’s teaching.


We expect to make several appointments but the number of positions will depend on the availability of funds.

The expected start date is July 1, 2021. A later start date can be negotiated with the supervisor pending approval. The duration of the appointment runs from one to three years pending approval from the supervisor.

Salary is to be commensurate with qualifications and experience as well as availability of funds. The positions are full-time, unless negotiated and approved by the supervisor.

Employment as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto is covered by the terms of the CUPE 3902 Unit 5 Collective Agreement.
