Temple University, Department of Mathematics, is seeking one Postdoctoral Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics, for a two-year appointment, with the starting date some time between January and July 2021. The teaching load is one course per semester.
The candidate is expected to work on a multi-institution research project, supported by the Department of Energy, on the development of technologies to improve the efficiency of highway traffic via the control of a few automated vehicles. The position includes a
leadership role in the coordination of the multi-institutional collaborative research effort, including UC Berkeley, Rutgers University Camden, University of Arizona, and Vanderbilt University.
Expertise in traffic modeling, differential equations, computational methods for flows, high-performance computing, control theory, transportation, and/or robotics is desirable, and should be stressed in the cover letter. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, or a related field, by the time of appointment.
