The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath is inviting applications for a Lectureship (equivalent to Assistant Professorship) in Algebra, Geometry and Number Theory.

Relevant to this post, the Department has particular strengths in Algebra, Geometry and Number Theory and Analysis. Active research areas include Representation Theory, Group Theory, Algebraic Geometry, Differential Geometry, Number Theory, Geometric Analysis, Calculus of Variations, Harmonic Analysis, PDEs and Operator Theory. We are seeking applicants with a developing track record of independent research of international standing who will strengthen the existing research of the Pure Mathematics group.

You will be expected to sustain a leading research programme, and to be active in developing and submitting competitive applications for external funding, as well as to share fully in the life of and responsibilities within the Department. You should also have a strong interest in pursuing excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and in supervising graduate students.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences has around 70 permanent academic staff from all areas of mathematics, over 100 PhD students and a large number of visitors and post-docs. It has a high international profile, performs consistently well in national research assessments, and has a tradition of interdisciplinary links with applications, supported by the Bath Institute for Mathematical Innovation.
