The Faculty of Mathematics/Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering is seeking to fill the position of University Professor (Salary W3 or W2 BBesO)"Mathematical Modelling" (m/f/d)at the Institute of Mathematics as soon as possible.
The research of the candidate should focus on the development and analysis of mathematiÂcal models, including (partial) differential equations. It should also address the well-posedÂness and stability of models. Experience in applications from natural sciences and engiÂneering is desirable. The advertisement is intended to address experienced applicants who will be paid according to W3, but promising applicants at the beginning of their career will also be given a chance (at W2 salary level). We are looking for internationally renowned persons with a research area complementing the research conducted at the Institute of Mathematics. The successful candidate should actively participate in the further development of the research profile of the institute. He or she should have a pronounced affinity towards interdisciplinary work and application-oriented topics, and should fit in with the main research areas of Clausthal University of Technology in terms of his/her possible working areas.
The candidate is expected to contribute to the degree program âApplied Mathematicsâ, by taking responsibilities for basic mathematical education, teaching at masters level (e.g. in functional or complex analysis, or partial differential equations), as well as teaching courses as service for other disciplines.
Applicants are expected to be willing to participate in coordinated interdisciplinary proÂgrammes. The requirements of the position are defined in section 25 of the Niedersachsen Higher EduÂcation Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz NHG).
Experience in the acquisition of third-party funded projects is expected. The willingness to hold courses in German and English is a prerequisite. Strong commitment to teaching is expected. The Clausthal University of Technology wishes to increase the number of its female faculty members. Therefore, applications from female candidates are particularly welcome.
