Pending approval, the University of Minnesota's School of Mathematics anticipates hiring one or more temporary Assistant Professors within its Center for Educational Programs (MathCEP). The postdoctoral position begins in Fall 2021 and emphasizes teaching, outreach and scholarship activities. The typical applicant is a new or recent PhD looking to increase their experience before applying to tenure-track jobs at schools which emphasize teaching, or teaching-focused jobs within large departments. The majority of the teaching load will be within UMTYMP courses. As a large research department, the School of Mathematics also provides opportunities to continue a research program along with the position's teaching duties. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in mathematics by September 1, 2021, and teaching experience at the undergraduate level are required. Preference will be given to applicants within 3 years of their Ph.D. degree whose background and experience are compatible with the objectives described above. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in interacting with K-12 mathematics teachers and students, but prior experience is not required. This position will initially be a two-year appointment contingent on funding, with the possibility of an additional one-year appointment based on satisfactory performance and funding.
