The School of Mathematics at the Georgia Institute of Technology (“Georgia Tech”) invites applications for the position of Chair of the School and Professor of Mathematics, with an anticipated starting date of January 1, 2022. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in mathematics or a closely related discipline, and qualify for tenure in the School of Mathematics at Georgia Tech. The expected rank at appointment is at the level of full professor, however applicants at all tenure-eligible ranks will be considered.

Candidates should have an outstanding record as a researcher, educator and mentor, and an accomplished record of effective leadership. In addition, they should possess a strong commitment to faculty/staff development; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and public engagement. Applications from groups underrepresented in the discipline are particularly encouraged.

The School offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics. It also participates in the interdisciplinary graduate programs in Algorithms, Combinatorics and Optimization; (Ph.D.); Bioinformatics (M.S. and Ph.D.); Computational and Quantitative Finance (M.S.); Computational Science and Engineering (M.S. and Ph.D.); Machine Learning (Ph.D.); Quantitative Biosciences (Ph.D.); and Statistics (M.S.). Research interests of the faculty of the School include algebra, analysis, applied and computational mathematics, differential equations, discrete mathematics, dynamical systems, geometry and topology, mathematical biology, mathematical physics, number theory, probability and statistics. The School leads the Southeastern Center for Mathematics and Biology, and hosts a Research Training Grant program in Geometry and Topology. The School of Mathematics currently has 51 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 10 instructional faculty members, 26 postdocs/visiting assistant professors, 279 undergraduate majors and 163 graduate students.
