Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics (National Taiwan Normal University) invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematics at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. The position will commence August 2021 or February 2022 (subject to the university approval). The successful candidate would be joining a vibrant research team and a well-established program in Mathematics.

Duties:

The essential duties of the position will include conducting research, publishing in the area of mathematics, and providing quality teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses for 8-9 units per semester (new faculty at the rank of assistant professor teach 6 units per semester for the first three years. Faculty can utilize their projects with grant funds to reduce the teaching load), mentor graduate students, apply for research funding, and participate in appropriate professional service.

Required qualifications:

  1. a Ph.D. in mathematics, or in the mathematics or education with a research emphasis in mathematics
  2. a documented record of or potential for excellence in research and teaching in mathematics interests will be given to the candidates with a sustained record of high quality research in the relevant expertise areas, for example, those with a strong record of publications in competitive refereed journals (e.g., SSCI, SCI or A&HCI indexed journals) in the relevant disciplines.

Remuneration:

A taxable monthly remuneration starting from NTD 70,780 (approximately USD 2,440) will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local income tax rate is 5% - 20% after various discretionary exemptions. Apart from remuneration, NTNU offers a wide range of benefits, such as medical insurance, on campus accommodation/housing allowance, and several types of academic subsidies.

The Department is located at NTNU Gong Guan campus in the modern city Taipei, which provides a wide variety of recreational and cultural opportunities. The surrounding countryside is attractive to outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking, biking, and other activities in the mountainous terrain.
