The Graduate and Professional Studies division at McDaniel College invites applications for an open rank, tenure-track position in Data Analytics to begin fall 2021. The position requires individuals to teach and develop courses for the graduate Data Analytics program such as Data Mining, Database Management, and Intermediate and Advanced Statistics. The Data Analytics program is based on close faculty-student interaction in teaching and advising, and we seek faculty with a commitment to excellent teaching, the potential for high-quality scholarship, a willingness to provide service to a college community that values a diversity of people and perspectives, and the ability to build strong industry and community relations. Exceptional candidates will also demonstrate the ability to contribute to the College’s interdisciplinary programs in data science and related areas at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The teaching load is 3 courses per semester. The graduate program in Data Analytics uses an online and hybrid delivery model, although opportunities to offer in-person courses may be possible. McDaniel provides excellent support for teaching and scholarship.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Science, Data Engineering or other closely related field preferred. Candidates with a master’s degree and industry experience will also be considered.

DESIRED / PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience teaching, online teaching a plus. • Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. • Interest and ability to conduct independent and interdisciplinary applied research. • Experience in curriculum development. • Experience with students’ academic advising. • Experience in serving on various department, college or university committees. • Active participation in professional activities and organizations. • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse campus community and external partners.
