Louisiana State University A&M and LSU Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, LA seek candidates for Department Head of the Department of Experimental Statistics (EXST). The successful candidate will be a leader with a shared vision to guide, support, and inspire a multidisciplinary faculty and staff in their tripartite mission of scholarly teaching, research, and outreach.

DUTIES:

Provide strategic leadership and administrative direction for the integrated research, extension, and teaching functions of the Department of Experimental Statistics. Provide leadership in recruiting and facilitating the professional development of faculty, staff, and students; develop departmental short and long-range plans; develop undergraduate and graduate courses and curricula; and administer state, regional, national, and international department programs. Recommend programmatic, personnel, budgetary, and facilities needs, and adjustments or reassignments. Effectively manage the fiscal, human, and physical resources of the unit. Effectively evaluate the performance of the department and its faculty and staff and guide their development. Facilitate working relationships with AgCenter regional, parish, and station offices and with other departments. Facilitate corporate development and extramural funding activities. This position is a joint appointment between the LSU Agricultural Center and the LSU College of Agriculture, with the primary appointment being through the College. The department head represents departmental interests to the LSU Agricultural Center and the LSU and A&M administrators and governmental agencies, stakeholders, and industry; state, regional, and national professional organizations; and the public. The department head's responsibilities are performed in a manner that is non-discriminatory based on race, creed, color, marital status, sexual orientation, religion, sex, national origin, age, mental or physical disability, or veteran's status. The department head reports to Vice President for Agriculture through the four Program Leaders of the LSU Agricultural Center campus and the Executive Associate Dean of the College of Agriculture of the LSU A&M campus.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The Department of Experimental statistics consists of 7 tenure-track faculty members, 3 instructors, 1 staff, and 30 masters-level graduate students in applied statistics. The department currently offers an M.S. degree in Applied Statistics, an undergraduate and graduate minor, supports the university in offering undergraduate and graduate-level statistical training, and provides statistical consulting services for researchers across LSU. A Ph.D. degree in Statistics has recently been approved and will begin accepting students in 2021.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Statistics, with a proven interest in applications, demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, and qualifications necessary to hold a tenured academic rank of Professor in the Department. The successful candidate should have demonstrated leadership and management skills, be communicative and collaborative, and have a national/international reputation.

Salary & Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. LSU has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
