The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine. Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens, in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in. The Department of Mathematics (DMATH)
carries out research in mathematics, both on its fundamental and its
applied aspects. The position is "promotion track", meaning that the successful candidate will have the possibility to be promoted to full professor after 5 years, upon positive evaluation of her/his activity. Your Role The recruited candidate will be encouraged to develop links between the DMATH and other research departments as well as with industries that are part of the local economic fabric. Experience in continuing professional education and/or in industrial and multidisciplinary scientific collaborations will be an asset. The successful candidate is expected to take an active part in the teaching programme in Data Science at the University of Luxembourg, as well as to apply for joint or individual third-party funding, both at the national and European level. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong track record in development and improvement of new statistical methods with concrete applications in e.g. economics, engineering, big data, or medicine.
