Securities Litigation and Consulting Group (SLCG) is seeking recent PhDs in mathematics, physics, or a related field with demonstrated empirical or modeling expertise for our litigation practice. We are especially interested in candidates with strong applied mathematics/statistics skills and proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: MATLAB, R, Python, Stata, or Java. The ideal candidate will be articulate, personable, and able to work as a team member and independently under pressure. The candidate will/may, but not limited to: Conduct economic research, gain insights from financial data by employing modeling and empirical techniques such as data mining, statistical learning, and Monte Carlo simulations; Value complex financial instruments with advance mathematical tools such as partial differential equations and stochastic analysis; Develop and apply complex economic, financial and statistical models to provide assessment on the impact of proposed policies and support business decisions; Conduct statistical analysis, run regressions, and estimate cost of capital; Research and identify investment transactions from various kinds of monthly financial statements or investment reports; Apply analytical techniques in providing clients with advice on complex economic questions in litigation, develop strategies for changing markets, and make critical business decisions; Assist testifying experts with the preparation of the economic, financial, and statistical data reports, and support experts as they provide testimony before courts and arbitration panels.
