Although not required, more than 90 percent of our students participate in our premier student work program. Employee benefits are competitive.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Berry College invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position (9-month academic year) to begin in August 2021. Our collegial department of eight faculty members strives for excellence in teaching mathematics and mentoring students from a wide range of backgrounds in a comprehensive college with a liberal arts core. Our department is similarly committed to the training and mentorship of visiting faculty members to help them excel in the classroom.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching in a liberal arts environment and a desire to contribute to our rich mathematics culture. The teaching load for this position will be 12 credit hours per semester of lower-division courses (including elementary statistics and precalculus).

The candidate should share our department's commitment to student engagement inside and outside of the classroom, as well as our desire to promote opportunities for students from under-represented groups. Berry is also committed to increasing the diversity of our faculty and staff. We welcome applications from all groups and strongly encourage women and persons of color to apply for this position.

REQUIREMENTS: Preference will be given to applicants who have completed the Ph.D. requirements in any subdiscipline of mathematics, or a closely related field, by the time of appointment. Applicants with a Masters degree and relevant experience will also be considered (as a visiting lecturer).
