The Department of Mathematics at Norwich University invites applications for mathematics lecturer and coordinator of the developmental math program beginning in mid-August 2021. The successful candidate will teach a 4-4 course load for the academic year and have service and administrative responsibilities including:

Collaborating with the Department Chair and the Academic Achievement Center (AAC) to support all Norwich students to have a successful transition into college-level mathematics courses. Coordinating course resources across multiple sections and multiple instructors of developmental mathematics courses in any given semester. Collecting data and reporting on student success in developmental mathematics courses at Norwich University. Proposing and implementing changes to Norwich's developmental mathematics program as necessary. Serving on related department, college, and/or university committees as assigned by the Department Chair, such as the developmental math committee Keeping current in developmental mathematics best practices, co-requisite education initiatives, and related trends in higher education. The Developmental Math Coordinator will teach several sections of Preparatory Mathematics and Intermediate Algebra each semester and another mathematics course(s) suited to their interests annually. This is an in-person position, candidates must be able to teach in-person classes on the Norwich Campus in Northfield, VT.

Requirements: A minimum of a master's degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, or Mathematics Education.

A demonstrated ability to teach Preparatory Mathematics, Intermediate Algebra, and general education mathematics courses.

The successful candidate will have a passion for bringing excellent teaching into the classroom and will be able to engage our undergraduates in the discovery of mathematics. All applicants must have demonstrated commitment to working with a student body that is diverse with respect to socio-economic status, culture, academic interests, and career paths.

Preferred Qualifications

Administrative or program coordinator experience in secondary or higher education. Experience helping students overcome math anxiety. Diverse expertise in developmental mathematics teaching including use of technology, mastery-based learning, co-requisite models, or other experiences.
