The Minerva Fast Track Group "Spectral Hypergraph Theory" of Raffaella Mulas (raffaellamulas.weebly.com/) has openings for One PhD Student and one Postdoctoral ResearcherThe group is based at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences in Leipzig, Germany. Salary is competitive based on experience and qualification and working conditions are excellent, with a dedicated and competent staff. Relevant initiatives (conferences, workshops, etc) can be funded. The aim of the group will be to develop the Spectral Theory of Hypergraphs as a generalization of Spectral Graph Theory. The three of us will be mostly working on the mathematical foundations of the theory, and it will be possible to apply the theoretical results to the study of real networks (e.g. biological and chemical networks), as well as to dynamical systems. The successful candidates will work on challenging and exciting problems. Enthusiasm in research and a strong interest in discrete mathematics are required. About the location: MPI MiS is an international center for pure and applied mathematical research in Leipzig, Germany. The broader scientific environment in Leipzig includes two other Max Planck Institutes (Cognitive Science and Evolutionary Anthropology) as well as the University of Leipzig. We offer:
