We are advertizing a position for a Lab Manager of the Heidelberg Experimental Geometry Lab (100%) (m/w/d) at the Research Station Geometry and Dynamics at Heidelberg University The goal of HEGL is to offer a space for students and faculty to engage in experimental mathematics using computer visualization and cutting-edge technology. Beyond providing a physical space with high quality equipment, HEGL aims to foster a community of mathematicians involving undergraduate and graduate students, members of the Research station Geometry & Dynamics and other faculty, by inviting them to complement their theoretical practice of mathematics with fun and collaborative experimental projects. The Lab Manager's responsibility is to guarantee the infrastructure and framework of the Lab, This includes maintaining the Lab Equipment, keeping it functioning and at the state of the art. The Lab Manager should assist members of HEGL and researchers offering student projects with the use of computers and technology, this might include the offering of clinics and workshops. The Lab Manager takes care of most of the organizational responsibilities, including exchanges with the central university administration regarding space, purchases of equipment, as well as all technical issues. Support for student workers (HiWis) assisting in these tasks will be available. The Lab Manager contributes to the scientific vision of the Lab. The ideal candidate has a PhD in mathematics, computer science, or physics, good programming skills, experience with 3D printers. We are looking for a team player with good organizational skills.
