The Collaborative Research Centre 1442 Geometry: “Deformations and Rigidity” in the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Münster (WWU), Germany, is seeking to fill the position of a


Postdoctoral Research Associate
Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in
(salary level TV-L E 13, 100%)


commencing on 1 September 2021. We are offering a fixed-term full-time position for 3 years. Currently, the regular full employment time is 39 hours and 50 minutes per week.


The position is in Raimar Wulkenhaar's CRC-project D03 "Integrability". The aim of this project is to explore the relation of a particular matrix model to (blobbed) topological recursion and identify the generated intersection numbers on the moduli space of complex curves.

Researchers who could contribute to this project, for instance by experience in topological recursion, algebraic and/or enumerative geometry, intersection theory, tautological characteristic classes, integrable systems or random matrices, are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will benefit from the stimulating environment and facilities of the Cluster of Excellence "Mathematics Münster: Dynamics – Geometry – Structure".


Research tasks:

  •  this position facilitates the acquisition of further scientific competencies and is tied to working towards a Habilitation
  •  collaboration in research and teaching
  •  independent research


Requirement profile:

  •  Candidates must have completed, or be about to complete, their PhD on a topic related to the fields of mathematics or mathematical physics indicated above.
  •  Good English communication skills are required.
  •  German language skills would be advantageous, but are not a requirement.
