The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position beginning July 1, 2021. The postdoctoral researcher will work with Dr. Chad Giusti to develop novel methods for understanding how brain networks encode and process information using techniques from topology, algebra, and geometry. The position carries a competitive salary and benefits, and offers interdisciplinary research and training opportunities in applied topology and neuroscience. Teaching opportunities are likely to be available but teaching is not required. This is a full-time, twelve-month position with possible extension of up to a total of three years, contingent upon availability of expected funding and satisfactory performance in the role.

Qualifications: Candidate must have completed a Ph.D. in mathematics or a strongly related field before the position begins. Successful applicants will have a background in pure or applied topology, and experience with computer programming and data analysis are a plus. Applicants need not have a background in neuroscience, but must be willing to develop domain expertise.
