The Algebra and Discrete Mathematics Research Group (Aalto SCI MS: Algebra and Discrete Mathematics) in the Department of Mathematics and Systems Analysis (Aalto SCI MS) at the School of Science is seeking for a

Doctoral Candidate in Mathematics

to work under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Engström. Specifically, the candidate will work within the area of algebraic and topological combinatorics. The position primarily involves graduate studies with the goal of a doctoral degree. Some departmental duties are included, mainly teaching basic level courses.

We wish that you could join the research group latest on September 2021, but we are ready to negotiate about the starting date.

Requirements

You must have a master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics or a closely related field by September 2021, and a good command of English.

The Doctoral Program at Aalto University is intended for the candidates of excellent academic background motivated in pursuing a full-time doctoral program and producing cutting-edge research of the highest international level. Salary and duration

The approximate timescale to complete the doctoral degree is 4 years. The standard salary level starts at 2 565 EUR/month. The annual total workload of research and teaching staff at Aalto University is 1612 hours. The position will be located at the Aalto University Otaniemi Campus.
