The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Texas Tech University invites applications for tenure-track positions beginning Fall 2022. The department seeks candidates who engage in nationally visible scholarship, establish externally funded research programs, positively interact with the existing research groups, involve both graduate and undergraduate students in their research and outreach, and show excellence in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. A Ph.D. degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, or a related area is required at the time of appointment.

Applicants who have strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and a strong peer reviewed publication record are particularly encouraged to apply. Texas Tech University recently surpassed the Hispanic student population threshold necessary for designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable. We encourage applications from diverse areas of mathematical sciences, but are especially interested in those who actively work in one or more of the following areas (with corresponding AMS-MSC codes): partial differential equations (35); calculus of variations and optimal control (49); differential geometry and analysis on manifolds (53;58); probability theory and stochastic processes (60); scientific computing and data science (68); fluid mechanics (76); quantum theory (81). Candidates whose research results directly apply to the following areas of national interest: climate and atmospheric sciences, virtual communication, digital imaging, finance, transportation, energy, and health are all welcome to apply.
