The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for three one-year term faculty positions for Academic Year 2021-2022. Rank will depend on terminal degree, and if appropriate, stature in the field. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on August 30, 2021. Review of submitted materials is guaranteed if the materials are received by June 25th, 2021. The search will continue until the position is filled, or until August 13th, 2021 whichever comes first. 

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree (initial rank: Instructor) or a Ph.D. (initial rank: Professorial Lecturer). Some teaching experience in service level statistics courses is preferred. The position will require the incumbent to teach 18-21 credits hours per year (equivalent to 3 courses per semester) of mathematics or statistics courses, mostly at the undergraduate level. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service.

We will post the ad as soon as it is approved.  We will guarantee consideration for application received for four weeks following the posting of the ad on the AU website (June 25).  We will construct a short list of 6 candidates to be interviewed.  Interviews will be conducted over a two days using Zoom.  We intend to make offers as soon as the committee agrees on the list of final candidates, which will be no later than August 13th.    Regardless of outcome, the search will conclude on August 13th
