Applications are invited for an Academic Education Pathway (AEP) Lecturer in Pure Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics at King’s College London.

Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Mathematics and teaching expertise in some area of Mathematics. They should have the potential to lead improvements in the student experience across the department and influence our educational offering.

The successful candidate will be expected to: • Deliver an excellent student experience through innovative teaching and assessment methods for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. • Undertake a self-directed programme of education-related research or scholarship at a level commensurate with the current international standards of excellence within the department. • Promote the reputation of the department through scientific meetings, scholarship and other externally facing activities. • Enthusiastically contribute to academic management, and support the administration and organisation of the department to further its education activities and ambitions.

As an Academic Education Pathways (AEP) Lecturer in Pure Mathematics you will strengthen the reputation, culture and ambitions of the department and wider institution by: • Delivering an excellent student experience though innovative teaching and assessment methods for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes; • Providing supervision to BSc, MSci and MSc students; • Undertaking a self-directed programme of education-related scholarship at a level commensurate with the current international standards of excellence within the department; • Promoting the reputation of the department through scholarship and other externally-facing activities; • Enthusiastically contribute to academic management, and support the administration and organisation of the department to further its education activities and ambitions.

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria: • PhD in Mathematics or equivalent • Experience of teaching and examining • In-depth knowledge in an area of Pure Mathematics • Ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in mathematics • Ability to make significant contribution to administrative work • Excellent presentation and communication skills • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an excellent standard of English language • A commitment to excellence in teaching and learning

Desirable criteria • Ability to supervise postgraduate research students • Experience of administration
