Applications are invited for an Academic Education Pathway (AEP) Lectureship in Mathematics Education in the Department of Mathematics at King’s College London.

Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics or a closely related area and teaching expertise in some area of Financial Mathematics, Statistics or Applied Probability. They should have the potential to lead improvements in the student experience across the department and influence our educational offering in these areas.

As an AEP Lecturer you will strengthen the reputation, culture and ambitions of the department and wider institution by:

Delivering an excellent student experience through innovative teaching and assessment methods for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes;

Providing supervision to Postgraduate MSc Students in Financial Mathematics or Statistics;

Undertaking a self-directed programme of education-related scholarship at a level commensurate with the current international standards of excellence within the department;

Promoting the reputation of the department through scholarship and other externally-facing activities;

Enthusiastically contributing to academic management, and supporting the administration and organisation of the department to further its education activities and ambitions.

Key responsibilities: As an AEP Lecturer you will strengthen the reputation, culture and ambitions of the department and wider institution by: Delivering an excellent student experience through innovative teaching and assessment methods for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes;

Providing supervision to Postgraduate MSc Students in Financial Mathematics or Statistics; Undertaking a self-directed programme of education-related scholarship at a level commensurate with the current international standards of excellence within the department;

Promoting the reputation of the department through scholarship and other externally-facing activities;

Enthusiastically contributing to academic management, and supporting the administration and organisation of the department to further its education activities and ambitions;

Be responsible for the wellbeing and pastoral care of students, including acting as Personal Tutor;

Engage with and contribute to department, faculty and institutional level initiatives in accordance with education strategy at all levels of the organisation.

Skills, knowledge, and experience Essential criteria:

PhD in Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent

In-depth knowledge in an area of Financial Mathematics, Statistics or Applied Probability

Ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in statistics or financial mathematics A commitment to excellence in teaching and learning

Experience of teaching and examining

Ability to make significant contribution to administrative work

Ability and willingness to undertake personal professional development in order to carry out the duties of the role

Excellent presentation and communication skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an excellent standard of English language.
