Be part of our growth! IHE is hiring for a variety of positions to support our growing program of work.

The Institute of Health Economics is pleased to announce the availability of a two-year post-doc position contributing to our infectious disease and vaccine economics portfolio. This post has a strong emphasis on mathematical modelling. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with leading mathematical and economics modelling researchers across Canada.

This position will be affiliated with the recently announced “One Society Network: mathematical modelling of multi-sectoral impact of pandemics and control policies.” The network’s goal is to connect infectious disease and economic models from across a range of domains (e.g., education, agriculture, transport, health) to inform current and future pandemic responses and policies. For more information, see: http://onesocietynetwork.ca/

Roles and Activities:

The specific responsibilities of the role include the following:

Collaborating with researchers at IHE and universities across Canada on interdisciplinary economic and mathematical modelling. Developing and applying economic methods, such as economic evaluation and return on investment to multi-sectoral infectious disease models. Contributing to development of research workplans including but not limited to: literature review, expert consultation, and methods development. Preparation of research reports, publications for scientific journals, and presentations for conferences. Knowledge translation activities within various forums from the clinical, public health, social and economic policy communities.

The successful candidate will also have opportunities to develop grant writing skills, present their work in national and international forums and work in close proximity to public health decision makers. The ideal candidate is comfortable in diverse, interdisciplinary settings and has a problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

PhD in a quantitative subject such as: Epidemiology, Health Economics, Public Health, Biostatistics, Mathematics, or related discipline. Prior experience (professional, training, or research) or interest in mathematical or infectious disease modelling. Knowledge of economic methods, including for example, economic evaluation, constraint optimization and return on investment analysis. Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills. Time management skills and ability to self-supervise. Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada.

Application Process:

Interested candidates are invited to submit by email a letter of interest and CV to nriley@ihe.ca. Candidates should indicate in their covering letter how they meet the requirements of the post and cite the position reference number. (Note: The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found but we will start the application review process on June 21, 2021.)
